Sharpen

Stylize

Crisp up soft detail with an unsharp mask.

Sharpen increases local contrast at edges, which the eye reads as more detail. It cannot recover information that is not there — it exaggerates what already exists.

Sharpen
Same artwork either side, so the difference you see is the effect. Built with the same SVG-filter primitives the product uses, but tuned for legibility at this size — treat it as a faithful illustration of the behaviour rather than a pixel-exact capture of the editor.

When to reach for it#

  • Recovering crispness in scaled-up imagery.
  • A final pass before export, at low amounts.
  • Making text or line art snap against a soft background.

Parameters#

Amountamount#

Strength. Past about 60 you start seeing halos around every edge.

Radiusradius#

How wide the contrast boost extends. Small radius sharpens fine detail; large radius adds apparent contrast to broad shapes instead.

Things that catch people out#

It amplifies noise too

Sharpening after adding grain doubles the grain. Sharpen first.
