Bulge / Pinch
Swell the outline outward inside a circle, or pull it inward.
Bulge remaps distance from a centre point: positive Strength pushes points outward and the shape swells like it is behind a lens, negative pulls them in and it pinches.
Geometry outside the radius is genuinely untouched and the boundary is continuous, so there is no seam where the effect stops.
When to reach for it#
- Fisheye and magnifier looks on a vector illustration.
- A squash impact — keyframe Strength from 0 to 0.6 and back over four frames.
- Cartoon eyes, bubbles, blobs.
- Pinching a shape into a waist.
How it works#
A point at distance r from the centre moves to R × (r / R) raised to the power (1 − Strength), where R is the radius. At r = R the exponent stops mattering and the point does not move at all, which is what makes the edge of the effect invisible.
Parameters#
Positive bulges, negative pinches. The range stops just short of 1 because at exactly 1 every point inside the radius would land on the rim.
How far the effect reaches, as a percentage of the layer's shorter side. Nothing beyond this moves.
Where the swell is centred, in percent of the layer box. Values outside 0–100 put the centre off the layer, which gives you one side of a lens.
