3D Sphere
Dimensional
Glossy orb shading that makes any shape read as a lit sphere.
Applies spherical shading — a bright specular highlight, a shaded terminator, and a rim — over the layer, so a flat circle becomes a ball.
When to reach for it#
- Buttons, bubbles, planets, beads.
- Making a flat circle read as a physical object.
- Glossy 3D-ish accents without the 3D workspace.
Parameters#
Where the highlight sits. Keep it consistent with shadows elsewhere in the scene.
Tightness of the specular highlight. High gloss is glass or polished plastic; low is matte.
How much light reaches the dark side. Zero is a harsh spotlight look; raising it reads as a lit room.
A bright edge on the dark side, as if lit from behind. Small amounts add a lot of perceived roundness.
