Inner Glow

Shadow & Glow

Light spreading inward from the silhouette edge.

Inner Glow brightens the inside edge of the layer. Where Inner Shadow makes a shape read as a hole, Inner Glow makes it read as lit from behind or filled with light.

Inner Glow
Same artwork either side, so the difference you see is the effect. Built with the same SVG-filter primitives the product uses, but tuned for legibility at this size — treat it as a faithful illustration of the behaviour rather than a pixel-exact capture of the editor.

When to reach for it#

  • Backlit type and shapes.
  • Making a fill look like it contains light rather than pigment.
  • Softening a hard fill edge from the inside.

Parameters#

Sizesize#

How far in the glow reaches. On thin artwork it saturates fast, same as Inner Shadow.

Colourcolor#

Brighter than the fill, or the effect is invisible.

Opacityopacity#

Strength.

Sourcesource#

Whether the glow grows from the edge inward or from the centre outward. Edge is the usual choice; centre gives a soft-focus bloom inside the shape.
